The Sparx BEAM (Blade Edge Accuracy Measurement device) is one of the most impressive pieces of technology in the Sparx system. I expected a simple edge checker, but this device is on a completely different level.

The precision is incredible. Knowing that the BEAM measures blade edges to 1/10,000th of an inch gives real confidence that the sharpening is truly level. That level of accuracy is far beyond anything you get from traditional edge checkers. It takes the guesswork out of the process and replaces it with real data.

What stands out immediately is how easy it is to use. The interface is simple and intuitive, and the icons make it very clear whether your edges are perfectly aligned. Within seconds you can confirm the quality of the sharpening and make adjustments if needed.

The laser measurement technology is a game changer. Instead of relying on visual checks or basic tools, the BEAM provides incredibly precise readings. It is reassuring to know that the edges are measured to a tolerance smaller than a fraction of a human hair.

Another great feature is the app connectivity. Being able to connect it to the Sparx Hockey App opens up deeper insights into the sharpening process. It adds another layer of confidence, especially when sharpening multiple pairs of skates or maintaining consistent performance for players.

The wireless charging pad is also a great touch. It keeps the device ready to go without needing to constantly think about batteries or cables.

BEAM gives more accurate results, quicker than any tool I've ever used in 20 years. This means fewer, smaller adjustments are required so skates get done much quicker. I don't use SPARX sharpening machines but I wouldn't want to be without this critical tool ever again, which is why I just purchased my second BEAM unit. When its wall to wall skates here, I can't have the tool in a locked state or out of power. It's exceptional utility demands redundancy. No shop should be using any other edge checking method.

I upgraded from the Sparx V2 to the V3. Which means switching from the manual edge checker to the beam. The Beam makes it so much easier and simplifies the whole process to a few clicks left or right. It’s truly a no brainer and even my kids can operate with 100% accuracy.
